RECLAIM Project Explained

The Reclaim Project
  • This project is a place where you take the ideas we are discussing in class and create your own product that teaches that truth as you see it in your own life. We will take it topic by topic, creating a new part of the product all semester long until we have something that gives life advice according to you. This product is your morality as you claim it. You will have time to polish it and think about it; you can add your own stories, songs, quotes, etc... Yes, we believe God's truth is our truth, but it isn't ours until we process it and claim it as our own. This product is your own personal code in your own style. By the end, you will process these things into a product that you personally believe and hopefully you can say, "Yes. That's what I believe is truth. That is the way I want to live a meaningful life."

As you create your own product that reclaims the truths you value most, you will need to decide some things. We should begin the thinking process on these questions:

  1. Who is your audience? (Who are you writing to/for?)
  2. What format should I use? (digital book? physical book? blog? vlog? podcast? a series of short films?) One thing to consider is the way you prefer to illustrate things. Is there an art form you want to add to your words?
  3. What style do I want to write in? (I could elevate the writing to feel old. I could write "straight talk" like in The Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I could embed my truths into a fantasy with characters that are learning. I could write serious essays. I could write letters to someone like Maya Angelou wrote Letters to My Daughter. I could write as myself or a fictional character. For example, Come Away My Beloved is in the voice of God speaking to us.) I could write poems or letters or comedy...anything that fits my audience!
