Tuesday, October 23 ~ RECLAIM: Gratitude

Take the first ten minutes to work on finding one quote and one scripture on Gratitude. Record these in Journal 17.

Before we really begin, record a top ten list. What are you most grateful for today? (bullet points are fine.)

Let's read this sweet word from Max Lucado.

  • A sweet start to Gratitude is capturing the beauties we've been taking for granted. Shall we make a list?

I've learned a few things about Gratitude...
  • Praise/thankfulness is trust proven true.
  • It can also carry us through rough waters because it is a way to give an offering of sorts....when we are thankful even in hard times we are not entitled. Our thankfulness reveals a deep trust that we see the good God has delivered even in an unfinished work.
  • This rocks my world because it also acts as a functional circuit breaker. When we focus on developing gratitude, we train our minds not to dwell in the ugly without a counterweight in our analysis of our lives. We also don't take out our aggression on those around us if we can be anchored in gratitude.
  • I'll tell you a story if we have time...

But King David said to Ornan, “No, I will certainly pay the full price; for I will not take what is yours for the Lord, nor offer a burnt offering which costs me nothing.”

HW: Read this story about Yolanda Avram Willis and write a paragraph reflection. What is the power of gratitude in dark situations?
